Buy Valencia tangerines straight from the grower

A tangerine's flavour is settled in its last weeks on the tree: that is when it gathers sugar and fills with juice. Pick it earlier so it survives the journey and the warehouse, and it stops halfway. Ours are picked the day you order, in the orchard the family has worked in Valencia since 1917, and they arrive with the leaf still green.

Tangerines or clementines? What arrives when

Clementines are a family of tangerines, nearly always seedless. We sell them all as Valencia tangerines, and each box carries the variety that is at its best that week:

• Oronules, from late October: the one that opens the season.
• Clemenules, November to late December: Valencia's best-known clementine, seedless.
• In January and February, the Hernandina, which spends the winter on the tree.
• And to close, from March to April, the Orri.

Supermarket tangerines and ours

The supermarket tangerine is usually picked early, goes into cold storage and is waxed to shine on the shelf. Outside, just as orange. Inside, less juice and less flavour. A triumph of appearance. Ours has never seen a cold store or a drop of wax: its picking date is your order date.

When it arrives, and what if something goes wrong

To France, Germany and Austria in 3 working days; elsewhere in Europe in 3 to 5. If anything arrives less than it should, we sort it out without argument: replacement, discount or refund. You choose. The one thing we cannot promise is that the box will last you more than a week.
