Orange rolls
This doughnut recipe brings back childhood memories... They are delicious, you have to try them! This time, María Dolores from the Blog Alcoiama has been kind enough to share this recipe with us.
ORANGE ROLLS
INGREDIENTS
- 1 glass of orange juice (250 cl - about 4 small oranges from citrusricus.com)
- 1 glass of sugar (250 cl)
- 1 glass of mild olive oil or sunflower oil (250 cl). You can also use half and half.
- 600 grams of flour (or the one that "admits", between 550 and 650 grams, the dough has to be soft).
- grated peel of one of the oranges (only the colored part)
- 1 tablespoon of baking soda
- 1 teaspoon of cinnamon (optional)
- sugar to cover the rolls.
PREPARATION
It can be kneaded by hand, with a mixer or Thermomix.
- Grate the skin of one of the oranges and set aside in a bowl.
- Squeeze the oranges and measure the three glasses of juice, sugar and oil.
- Pour the three glasses and the teaspoon of cinnamon (optional) into the bowl and mix well with a hand mixer for a couple of minutes.
- Add the baking soda and the flour little by little while we continue beating, at the beginning, with the stick mixer goes well, when it is already thickening, it is better to dispense with the mixer and mix the last spoonfuls of flour directly stirring with the spoon in the bowl until everything is well integrated.
- The dough must be soft so that the rolls are crispy. If we overdo the flour they will be too hard.
- To form the rolls each one has its own system. I put a small plate with oil to grease my hands, I take portions of dough with which I form "balls" of the same size, which I place on the tray, covered with baking paper, quite separated. Then with my index finger smeared with oil I form the "hole" by widening the dough, on the same tray where they will be baked.
- Sprinkle each roll with granulated sugar.
The rolls are baked for about 20 minutes with the oven preheated to 180 degrees.
