Hot drinks with oranges

1. Glühwein with oranges

Glühwein, or mulled wine, is a typical Austrian and German drink that is consumed in winter, especially during Advent time and at Christmas markets.


  • 1 liter of red wine*.
  • 1 stick of cinnamon
  • 1 orange from
  • 2-3 star anise
  • 2-3 cloves
  • 50 g sugar
  • 1 vanilla stick

*Forpeople who do not drink alcohol or for children the wine can be replaced by grape juice, you will probably not have to add sugar.

Preparation: Cut the oranges with the peel in slices, mix all the ingredients and boil briefly. Strain and it is ready to serve.

2. Russian tea with spices


  • 3 teaspoons of black tea (or three tea bags).
  • 1 teaspoon of orange powder or some pieces of fresh orange peel
  • half teaspoon of cloves
  • 1 stick of cinnamon
  • 3 tablespoons of honey
  • the juice of half a freshly squeezed lemon

Preparation: Heat a liter of water and add the tea, orange powder or peels, cinnamon and cloves. Let infuse for 10 minutes. Strain and then add the honey and lemon juice.

3. Infusion with orange, cinnamon and ginger

This tea is especially indicated in case of colds or sore throat. Ginger has anti-inflammatory properties and is highly recommended for respiratory tract affections.


  • Juice of an orange of
  • 1/2 teaspoon of ginger
  • 1/2 liter of water
  • cinnamon stick

Preparation: Add the ginger and cinnamon to the water and heat it until it boils. Then remove from heat and add the orange juice. Serve hot. If you wish, you can add honey for a sweeter taste or when you suffer from a sore throat.
